Shiimsa’s Home on The Internet

Hello, my name is Shiimsa and I’m an American Cocker Spaniel. I was born on October 1, 2004. My name is an Ojibwa Indian word that means “little animal friend”. I live in the beautiful State of Washington, in the capitol city of Olympia.

My masters, play with me and love me very much. My male master, Michael, spends a lot of his day sitting at this thing he calls a computer, with me watching over his shoulder. His lovely wife, Laura, spends most of her day writing poetry and doing art work. When they left home a while back, I was able to hack into his high-speed internet account and create my own email address, and set up a personal website so I can have my own little spot in something called cyberspace.

I’m not the only animal in this house. There were others when I first got here, a couple of noisy cockatiels that I was NEVER allowed to get close to, and a rat. After a couple of months of my pestering the birds, Laura decided that it was in their best interest to live somewhere else. They moved to a new home where I hear that they are very happy. The rat died. Now, to my glee I have a CAT to keep me company! His name is Moah.

I love to chase a ball, ESPECIALLY if it squeaks, tug on a rope toy or a sock, but my favorite thing in the whole wide world is the red dot. It appears magically out of nowhere, then it goes all around the house and I chase it until I am panting real hard, then it just disappears. Then I go lay down and patiently wait for it to come back... It always does somehow. I think it’s called a laser. This cat likes it too. When he tries to chase it, I show him who’s boss. That’s MY red dot!

In the morning when I get up, I have to work, I go outside and get the paper and bring it inside. Then I go for a walk. When I get the chance, I drag paper out of the trash and tear it up. Regardless of what others may think, shredding paper and making a huge mess can be fun. I used to very adept at hauling every shoe out of the closet and spreading them about the house, but that got boring so I quit doing that. The rest of the day I just lay around and eat, sleep and poop. Pretty exciting stuff, huh?

Well, thanks for stopping by, and drop back again every once and a while to see if there is anything new, or maybe some new pictures of me.

They got me a cat!

HIV and AIDS are fast becoming the worst epidemic in human history, with no end in sight.

As mascot for United Communities AIDS Network, I urge you to get tested for HIV. It is important to get tested for HIV on a regular basis. If you test negative for HIV take steps to stay that way. If you test HIV+ seek on-going medical care. By taking advantage of good health care and treatment, you increase your chances of living a longer and healthier life.
